Two avid Friesian & Vlaamse horse owners decided to bring the beautiful black horses in Namibia together under one association. Karin Schreuder and Wendy Venter felt that the number of Friesian & Vlaamse horses attending the classes offered at the Saddlehorse shows was growing rapidly and it was time to give these magnificent horses their own place. On the 24th of September 2011 at the Grootfontein Show, the Namibian Friesian & Vlaamse Horse Association was founded, with 29 founding members. The President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Additional Member were all elected at this historic event. The aim of the NFVHA is to promote both the Friesian & Vlaam breed in Namibia, as well as acknowledge the Friesian/Vlaam Crossbreeds. The association hopes to build a comprehensive registrary of the Namibian horses. The NFVHA accepts registration of all Friesian, Vlaam and Crossbreed horses provided they conform to the breed standards as set out under the rules. |
